ALICE TRUEMAN - Writer/Director


Alice Trueman is an award-winning scriptwriter and an emerging director. She is currently under commission to write a short film for Free Tibet; developing her own original short and feature with Vault Films; and is in production on a forthcoming online sketch show with Almond Tree Productions.

Alice has an MA in Scriptwriting from Goldsmiths University of London where she was made a double winner of their film competition which saw her early writing showcased at BAFTA. Since graduating she has gone on to work on projects for both screen and stage, was selected by the BBC for one of their trainee programmes and has worked as a script editor for the BFI film fund. Alice also worked extensively on the BBC Anim8 competition winner, developing and writing the concept with the series’ creators. Alice is the writer and director of the short film JAS, which won the Red Rock Entertainment Film Award and EGG, starring Sally Phillips, which has screened at numerous festivals, including Official Selections for Encounters Film Festival, Aesthetica Film Festival and London Short Film Festival.

Alice is joint-artistic director of Broken Leg Theatre. Her latest play, THREE GENERATIONS OF WOMEN, twice received funding from Arts Council England and toured the UK to great acclaim, receiving a Lyn Gardner Pick Of The Week; her previous play MY SECOND LIFE won an Argus Angel Award and a London transfer.
